Third Macedonian stakeholder workshop
December 12, 2014
The third stakeholder workshop took place in Skopje on December 12, 2014. The objectives were to outline the current analytical knowledge base for making decisions on national mitigation contributions; to present ways to mainstream climate change mitigation into national sectoral policies (including a discussion of the country's low-carbon policy paper); and to discuss institutional legislative and technical capacity needs for coordinated and coherent mitigation actions in the national context. Ms. Natasa Markovska, national climate change mitigation expert, gave the presentation "On the road to Paris 2015: An analytical base for nationally determined mitigation contributions", and Ms. Teodora Obradovikj Grncharovska, state counsellor on climate change within the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning delivered a presentation on the LOCSEE low-carbon policy paper. These presentations were followed by a brainstorming session on the Macedonian low-carbon policy paper. The 19 participants at the workshop included representatives from various organisations and agencies; members of the National Climate Change Committee who also serve also as members of the LOCSEE National Working Group; representatives from Macedonian ministries; and representatives from the private sector, industry, NGOs, academia, and the donor community.
