Fourth stakeholder workshop in Slovenia
December 16, 2014

The fourth LOCSEE stakeholder workshop in Slovenia was held at the Jozef Stefan Institute near Ljubljana. The 20 participants, most of whom were representing national authorities, discussed the best way to identify a methodological framework for monitoring the impact of energy taxes and environmental subsidies on GHG emissions.

The first presentation focused on the conclusions of an analysis carried out on the monitoring of the implementation of the operational programme for reducing GHG emissions by 2020. A representative of the Ministry of Finance then gave a presentation featuring an analysis of the financial aspects of rising energy taxes.

In the second part of the workshop, participants engaged in a constructive debate about the most effective measures for reducing GHG emissions, taking into account the implications for the state budget. The decision was made to enhance cooperation in the future in order to achieve the shared goals of environmental and financial sustainability.
