Alterenergy and LOCSEE join forces
August 1, 2014

On September 9, 2014, a LOCSEE stakeholders' workshop, the second meeting of LOCSEE's Italian National Working Group (NWG), and a regional event for the project Energy Sustainability for Adriatic Small Communities (Alterenergy) will take place at the Palace Hotel in Bari, Italy. The event is jointly organised by LOCSEE lead partner EURAC and the lead partner of Alterenergy, Puglia Region. The topics addressed will include voluntary tools and networking for the EU low-carbon agenda; energy policies in Italy; and experiences related to the Covenant of Mayors. The event will begin with an introduction to the Alterenergy project and an overview of the results achieved to date in the framework of LOCSEE. Other agenda items include the EU climate acquis for the Balkans; low-carbon policies in South Eastern Europe that are linked to the Energy Community Treaty; and sustainable energy action plans (SEAPs) in Italy, including a presentation on the SEAPs for Sant'Agata di Puglia and Bari. In addition to case studies of voluntary industrial footprint actions in Italy, synergies between SEAPs and voluntary industrial innovation schemes towards public-private partnerships will be discussed.

During the afternoon, the Italian NWG will meet for an experts' roundtable and the further examination of the development of the LOCSEE policy paper. Participants at the NWG session will include representatives of LOCSEE lead partner EURAC, the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, and the Ambiente Pulito Foundation.
