Joint stakeholders' workshop and NWG session
September 4, 2014

The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning is organising a joint event on September 4, 2014, in the Macedonian capital Skopje, comprising a stakeholders' workshop and the second session of the Macedonian National Working Group (NWG). Participants at the workshop will include the members of the NWG, who are also part of the National Climate Change Committee, as well as representatives of ministries, agencies, NGOs, the private sector (industries and businesses), academics and representatives of the donor community in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The workshop will focus on the EU 2030 framework for climate and energy policies. International expert Dr. Neven Duic will deliver a presentation on the topic, which will be followed by a discussion among participants. The second NWG session will take place after the workshop and will address the implications of the possible application of EU targets in the country along with the technical basis required to prepare robust, realistic and achievable national targets for GHG emissions reductions. The joint event has been organised back to back with a United Nations Development Programme workshop on the prioritisation of climate change mitigation measures within the project "First Biennial Update Report on Climate Change".

Further details of the event can be found in the draft agenda of the stakeholders' workshop and the draft agenda of the second NWG meeting.
