The cost of low-carbon policies and measures in South Eastern Europe
May 8, 2014

Besides having clear environmental benefits, does the introduction of low-carbon policies and measures in South Eastern Europe result in an economic burden on end users? This question was addressed in a recent article by LOCSEE partner the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), which was published (in Greek) on May 8, 2014, on Energy Press, a popular Greek news portal for energy issues.

The article outlines the results of the modelling exercise carried out by NOA in the framework of the LOCSEE project in relation to the major energy-consuming sectors (buildings and transportation) in Albania, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro. The article also compares these findings with relevant results for Greece from recent work carried out by NOA's research team, and concludes that significant win-win potential for GHG emissions abatement exists in all SEE countries.
